WHY CREATE THE ULTIMATE FERTILITY GUIDE:
With rising costs of fertility treatment around the world and funding cuts in the UK, The Ultimate Fertility Guide aims to educate anyone trying to start a family by providing access to the people who can best help to achieve this. 1 in 8 couples around the world have to come to terms with infertility with it being a 50/50 male to female issue, so it is essential that information is engaging and accurate. This interactive and concise directory invites all aspects of the fertility industry to sign up in one obvious place. There will be live streamed content produced by an expert broadcast team creating useful and trustworthy content.
We all consume information on the move, we listen and watch using our phones, we share the good stuff and skip the nonsense. There is a lot of it out there. Our mission is to cut through the noise by giving you what you need. Every member of this guide will be interviewed in a live streamed Q&A session, creating dialogue and giving people more opportunities to ask questions. The 40th anniversary of IVF, 2018 sees The Ultimate Fertility Guide bring together all aspects of the fertility industry from fertility clinics, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies to natural fertility specialists, fertility coaches, associations and authorities, charities and bloggers. All in one place at last.
As online video fast becomes the chosen method for online marketers with it making up 69% of all global consumer internet traffic in 2017, we are trying to encourage the fertility industry to make it an essential part of its content creation, after all it’s what ‘we’ want to consume. The Fertility Podcast will be promoting the guide weekly and also repurposing its content so whether you prefer to watch or listen, you’ll have access to both.
We hope that by bringing people together, The Ultimate Fertility Guide will offer insights for experts into what patients and potential patients experience when on a fertility journey. Meaning ‘we’ will be seen as more than just numbers. We also want to get more Men speaking about their experiences and have more dialogue between them and fertility professionals. Hopefully we can encourage clinics to think more about how they speak to couples as well. Too many Men talk about being ignored in appointments. We also want there to be more support for patients whose cycles fail, rather than suddenly being left alone. We have BIG hopes as you can tell!
We also put a strong emphasis on natural fertility, with experts such as nutritionists and acupuncturists joining the guide, as we want to offer a clear pathway for people to to help their body be the best it can be to reproduce and ultimately carry a baby. The ideal would be to avoid fertility treatment all together but if it has to happen, we want to help make it more effective first time around, rather than having to endure multiple cycles. The amazing #TTC blogger community will be listed sharing their wisdom as will global fertility events, books, plays, films – you name it, we’ll have it.
Infertility affects us in different ways and and when decisions are made to seek alternative ways to have a family we want to ensure we have every option covered. From surrogacy and adoption to fostering, these organisations will also be included in the guide with expert advice available in the live streamed sessions from those providing support and assistance. We also want to be a place for people who have reached a point of accepting that they are going to be living their life involuntarily childless . We will be hosting the amazing organisations providing support and guidance for anyone who is coming to terms with this.
We want to empower everyone with the knowledge they need to be secure in what their future holds for them.
WHO WE ARE:
My name is Natalie Silverman, a former fertility patient and founder and host of The Fertility Podcast the UK’s leading fertility podcast. When we discovered we needed to have ICSI treatment to have our first child, my husband and I were completely overwhelmed by what this meant and how much information there was online. We didn’t know where to start. We had friends who had been through treatment but we’d not heard of ICSI and didn’t know where to find the answers we were were looking for about what we could do to improve our chances of success. After a considerable amount of research, we made changes to our lifestyle and were so lucky as our treatment worked first time and our son, Phoenix is has just turned three.
Once pregnant, I decided to launch The Fertility Podcast the UK’s leading fertility podcast. My background is in commercial radio, having worked as a presenter for Global Radio for over a decade. I have first hand experience of the relationships that develop between a presenter and an audience and felt that I could provide a valuable missing service to people seeking information. I felt very strongly that this kind of ‘sensitive’ information needed to be presented better, it needed to be easier to find and I wanted to do something to make this happen.
So, I started interviewing experts whose books I had read and then over time reached out to people I was meeting online, willing to share their stories of their struggles to become parents. In 2018, I’ve now published over 100 episodes and have reached nearly 150,000 downloads in over 50 countries. I speak to experts all around the world and continue to speak to people all the time dealing with infertility. Unfortunately, the same point is made over and over again, that the information online is vast, there’s so many conflicting views, a lot of scaremongering which causes a lot of worry. There’s no way to sugar coat this issue and not everyone will have the outcome they long for but by giving correct information in an easy to consume way, I want to take away some of the stress infertility causes.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of IVF I have established some brilliant collaborations with my podcast which you can see detailed on my website. I have also brought together my contacts to make a brilliant team to create The Ultimate Fertility Guide and I really hope it helps you. .
Here’s to breaking the silence and getting us all talking,
With love, Natalie
